Dr. Bashar Hanna selected for Caring Community Award
Jun 18, 2015
Dr. Bashar W. Hanna, Delaware Valley University’s vice president for academic affairs, was awarded the Bucks County Intermediate Unit #22 (IU) Caring Community Award. The award was created to recognize individuals outside of the organization who have made an extraordinary contribution, which directly impacts the students served by the IU. Dr. Hanna was honored at the Caring Community Award Reception, held Wednesday, June 10 at the IU in Doylestown.
“I’m honored to be selected for this award and truly enjoy having a chance to be a part of enhancing students’ educational experiences,” said Dr. Hanna. “I had a chance to speak at the #girlSTEM conference, which brought 700 middle and high school girls to the University’s campus to learn about STEM careers. The schools in Bucks County are producing bright students who are excited about learning. I hope DelVal can be a part of guiding these students toward professions that are in high demand.”
JoAnn Perotti, director of strategic services for the IU, said, "Without the support of Dr. Hanna and the staff of Delaware Valley University, our Bucks County Intermediate students would not have the opportunity to partake in a school program within a university setting. This program affords the students the ideal learning environment that empowers the young adults to be their best. This authentic experience is appreciated by the students, families and the local community as well as the Bucks County Intermediate Unit #22.”
