Concert Celebrating Music by Women Composers

Credit: Delaware Valley University. The Delaware Valley University Fall Concert will celebrate and highlight the work of talented female composers.

Delaware Valley University will present the first concert of the academic year on Sunday, Oct. 28 at 3:00 p.m. in the Life Sciences Building auditorium.

The program will feature DelVal’s 60-person Symphonic Band and will include works by four talented women composers, Joan Tower, Julie Giroux, Shelley Hansen, and Anne McGinty. The program will conclude with energetic selections by the DelVal Jazz Band. The event open to the community at no cost. 

"Enjoy an afternoon of exciting music by four outstanding women and support the work of DelVal’s talented students and community members," said Dr. Jack Schmidt, a DelVal professor of music and chair of the liberal arts department. "From Scottish folks songs to toe-tapping jazz, this program has something for everyone."

DelVal is committed to presenting high-quality, entertaining, and educational programs suitable for audiences of all ages.
