Jonathan L. Lance ’19 Lands a Job as a Digital Marketing Specialist Before Graduation

Lance, an Army veteran, transferred to Delaware Valley University from Bucks County Community College and found a career he is passionate about.

Jonathan L. Lance ’19 chose Delaware Valley University because he knew DelVal would give him the right combination of knowledge and real-world experience to find a job in his field. Lance accepted a job offer as a digital marketing specialist at The Fredericks Company before graduation.

“My favorite part of DelVal was the hands-on-learning and the E360 Program,” said Lance. “It’s great that the University gives students time to learn about their passions. The experience from doing internships helped me get a job after DelVal.”

Lance, an Army veteran, transferred to DelVal from Bucks County Community College and said the process was seamless.

“DelVal made the transfer process from Bucks County Community College extremely easy and took all my credits,” said Lance. “Also, DelVal helps veteran students with additional resources and scholarships.”

After choosing to major in media and communication at DelVal, Lance took advantage of opportunities to gain experience in his field.

On campus, he interned with the University’s Department of Marketing and Communications and, served as a media assistant for Athletics. He also gained leadership experience by serving as a peer mentor in the fall 2018 semester. As a peer mentor, Lance helped new students adjust to campus life and helped guide them through any issues.

He also interned with Jebran & Abraham, PC, a full-service tax, accounting, and consulting firm, as a social media specialist to gain additional real-world experience.

Lance excelled in the classroom, making the Dean’s List and achieving a high GPA. He was a 2019 finalist for the Founders’ Day Award, which is the University’s highest student honor.

He said the faculty at DelVal helped him achieve his goals.

“The professors, especially Dr. Jim O’Connor and Douglas McCambridge helped me get my first internship,” said Lance. “They both helped me grow professionally and creatively.”

Lance is excited for the next chapter in his career.

As a digital marketing specialist at The Fredericks Company, he will be managing company social media platforms, working on the website, doing email marketing, and working with data to measure the impact of various marketing campaigns.

“My hands-on experience allowed me to find my passion,” said Lance. “I will be able to start a new career focusing on what I enjoy doing after DelVal.”
