Howard Eyre was born and raised in Doylestown and first worked for an aunt in her small nursery. In high school he decided to pursue a degree in forestry, but upon graduation from college, he went to work in the landscape and garden center industry.

He worked in Texas for three years and then found a position as the manager of a production nursery and landscape business in Harrisburg, Pa. After approximately eight years in that position, Eyre then started his own landscape design and management company in Harrisburg.

He joined the DelVal faculty in 1991 and brought his industry experience into the classroom. Over the years he has been honored with various awards by the student government board and was the 2009 recipient of the Distinguished Faculty Award.
