Bucks County, Pennsylvania, is a beautiful, scenic area, and students at Delaware Valley University are right in the heart of it. The area is open and rustic, providing ample outdoor activities for DelVal students to take part in when they’re looking for something to do off campus.

Ringing Rocks County Park, Upper Black Eddy, PA
Ringing Rocks County Park is home to a historic and beautiful park that provides wonderful views and an escape from the hustle and bustle of the urban areas around Bucks County, PA. The main draw of the park, however, is the ringing rocks. These rocks are known as sonorous rocks because when you hit them with a hammer, they generate a distinctive sound that’s reminiscent of a bell. If you’ve never heard of these types of rocks before, grab your hammer and your best hiking shoes and take a trip over to the Ringing Rocks County Park.

Curtis Hall Arboretum, Wyncote, PA
A short drive down the road from Bucks County is the Curtis Hall Arboretum, which features seasonal displays of some of Pennsylvania’s lushest vegetation. The walk-thru arboretum has more than 50 types of trees, two ponds, a dog park and a World War II memorial. The Curtis Hall Arboretum is relaxing and tranquil, making it a great place for dates, picnics or to just enjoy the scenery.

DelVal students who are looking for a fun, engaging outdoor activity right in their backyard can visit the Doylestown Rock Gym for some rock climbing fun. With outdoor courses on site, you can get the experience of climbing the face of a cliff right here in Doylestown.

Newcomers to rock climbing are more than welcome, as the Doylestown Rock Gym is ready to help train beginners and bring them up to speed on the sport with our various walls that vary as far as the levels of difficulty.
